About Madison
Madison Phipps is a Houston-based artist whose work explores botanical subjects through simplicity, color, and a trained eye for composition. Her original paintings are designed for timeless interiors, and have found homes with collectors and design-forward retailers who value art that is both considered and livable.
Her path to painting runs through a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Mississippi, where she studied Graphic Design. That background is evident in her work: the restraint, the negative space, the deliberate placement of a botanical form against grounds that range from deep chocolate to sage green to french blue. That design instinct, an innate sense of balance, of when a painting is finished, runs through every piece, whether spare and graphic or lush and layered.
Madison grew up in a small village in the Netherlands, where her mother filled their home with tulips, hyacinths, and daffodils - the flowers of the Dutch countryside brought inside as a weekly act of beauty. That early sense of nature as something to be lived with, not just observed, remains at the heart of everything she paints.
Her work has been featured on HGTV and is available through select retail partners, including Paloma & Co in Houston. She accepts a limited number of commissions each year.
